Safety center
ANORA connects neighbors for short-term help. We built checks to make that safer — here is exactly what they do, what they don't do, and how to get help fast.

Feeling unsafe right now?
If you are in immediate danger, leave the situation and call 911. ANORA cannot dispatch help and does not monitor bookings in real time.
What “verified” means on ANORA
Identity badges come from Stripe Identity's automated document and selfie check. Every other badge is shown only after a person on the ANORA review team has looked at a real document. Nothing is self-declared.
- ANORA verified (identity). Stripe Identity checked the provider's government-issued ID for authenticity and matched it to a live selfie. It confirms the account belongs to a real, named adult — ANORA never holds the ID image, only the result.
- Certification verified. A certificate — CPR/First Aid, ServSafe, childcare training, pet care and similar — was uploaded and checked for name, issuer and expiry.
- License verified. A state or professional license number was provided and reviewed.
- Insurance verified. A current certificate of insurance was reviewed.
- Background check verified. The provider supplied a background screening report from a recognized screening provider, dated within the last 12 months, and our team confirmed it matches their verified identity.
- Self-reported. Anything without a badge is the provider's own claim. Treat it as a starting point for questions, not as proof.
What verification does NOT mean
A badge is a document check at a point in time. It is not a guarantee of anyone's character, competence, honesty or future behavior, and it is not an endorsement or recommendation by ANORA.
- A background check reflects records available on the date it was run — not anything since.
- Records are incomplete by nature; not every incident appears in a screening report.
- ANORA does not employ, supervise, train, insure or direct providers.
- ANORA is not present during a job and does not monitor bookings.
Always use your own judgment: read reviews, message first, meet in a way you're comfortable with, and tell someone where you'll be.
Background checks
Background screening is optional for most everyday help and expected for higher-risk categories such as childcare, elder care, in-home overnight work and driving people. Higher-risk categories also show which documents are still missing directly on the provider's profile.
Providers add a background check by uploading a report from a recognized screening company (for example Checkr, Sterling or a state police record check) under “Background check” in their credentials. Our team confirms the name matches their verified ID and the report is recent, then the badge appears. We store only what we need to review it, and we do not run checks on your behalf or share report contents with other users.
Certifications & experience
Providers can list CPR/First Aid, childcare experience, cooking and food-safety training, pet care, driving, senior care, cleaning and any other relevant background. Anything with a document behind it can be verified; plain experience stays clearly labeled as self-reported with dates and context so you can judge it yourself.
Reporting and blocking
Every profile and conversation has a report and block option. Blocking is immediate and stops all messaging. Reports go to the ANORA review team, who can warn, suspend or permanently remove an account, and we may involve law enforcement where appropriate. You can report unsafe, inappropriate, fraudulent, discriminatory or otherwise concerning behavior — you never need proof to report.
We do not tell the reported person who reported them. Retaliation for a good-faith report is itself grounds for removal.
Reviews you can trust
Only customers who paid for and completed a booking through ANORA can leave a review, and each booking gets one review. That makes fake praise expensive and fake attacks traceable. Reviews cannot be deleted by providers.
Who can use ANORA
You must be 18 or older to book help or to provide services. Accounts found to belong to minors are removed. Full details are in the terms of service.
